Directions

Begin with using your milk maker machine to grind fresh turmeric and ginger root. Use equal parts and makes sure they are cut into small chunks so that it is easy on your machine. Add equal parts of turmeric and ginger so that it adds up in total 1/2 cup. Then, add four cups of water to the nut milk machine. Blend well for approximately five minutes. Grinding up roots and nuts takes tremendous power therefore, the best tool for grinding up these roots is a nut milk maker. If you use a blender to pulverize the roots, there is a good chance that you could burn out the motor.

I use approximately a fourth of the turmeric and ginger mixture for the Golden Milk and save the remainder of the root juice for another recipe here. After grinding the roots with water in the nut milk machine, strain the juice to remove pulp.

Next, use the same machine to make cashew milk. You can add coconut flakes too, if you like a thick creamy milk. ½ cup of cashew nuts to four cups of water. If you decide to put in coconut flakes, use ¼ cup with the ½ cup cashews.

Again, after grinding the nuts with water in the nut milk machine, strain the milk to remove pulp.

I use only filtered water for milks and root juices. I have included links below for my favorite water filter system.

Next add the spices: cinnamon, cardamon, white pepper

Then, add maple syrup and vanilla.

I prefer to use powdered vanilla as it blends well and does not contain alcohol or glycerin as a preserver. See below for my favorite product.

I like to store the Golden Milk in a glass jar in the refrigerator when drinking it cold. You can also heat the milk however, its important to not boil the milk as it breaks down the creamy texture that is inherent in the freshly made cashew milk. Stir gently while heating on low temperature.

Drink within two days while it is at its peak flavor and fresh. Make mixture fresh in small batches.

Certainly, you can adjust the spices and sweetener to taste by adjusting amounts and dial it in perfectly for your own taste buds.

  • 3 cups cashew milk
  • 1 cup root juice (turmeric and ginger)
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
